Faut-il maudire Parcoursup ? Midi Libre ouvre le débat sur une procédure cauchemar pour bien des lycéens 22.02.2026

Midi Libre is hosting a debate on the Parcoursup platform, with two contrasting viewpoints from educators. Essayist Johan Faerber argues that Parcoursup is a political tool designed to create artificial scarcity of higher education places, transforming it into a market and promoting social Darwinism. He contends that the platform serves as a distraction from the lack of funding for public higher education, leading to increased stress and financial burdens on students. Conversely, Evelyne Brandts, an agrégée of German, believes Parcoursup has improved upon its predecessor, APB, by eliminating the prioritization of wishes and focusing on academic records, thereby better matching students to suitable programs and reducing first-year university failure rates. She highlights the end of random selection and the introduction of improved guidance and support mechanisms, suggesting that while anxiety exists, Parcoursup is a necessary system for managing the large influx of baccalaureate graduates.
