According to media reports, an outsourced rodent control team in the Kwai Chung district of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) allegedly failed to transport captured live rats to designated locations for humane destruction on the same day as required. Instead, they reportedly transported the live rats to a hillside to be kept, in order to create fake rodent control figures to meet quotas. The FEHD has treated the matter with high priority upon learning of the incident, immediately launched an investigation, and issued a notice of serious dereliction of duty to the relevant contractor.
