Ferry return delayed by 'complex' repairs 08.09.2026

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has announced that its flagship ferry, Manxman, will be out of service for a further two months due to "highly complex" repairs. The vessel has been in dry dock in Liverpool since July 13 for scheduled maintenance, but extensive wear was discovered after the propulsion shafts were removed for inspection. An independent investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the damage. The back-up passenger vessel, Ben-my-Chree, will continue to operate services between the island and Lancashire while the work is carried out.
