The Festival de Lanaudière, Canada's largest classical music festival, begins its 49th edition in Joliette, featuring around twenty outdoor concerts, notably at the Fernand-Lindsay amphitheater. Artistic director Renaud Loranger has chosen the theme of power as the guiding thread, exploring its fascination with the human soul, its splendors, and its misfortunes. The closing concert on August 2 will present a new production of Verdi's Macbeth, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin with the Orchestre Métropolitain, prior to its premiere at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
