A fire broke out on the cruise ship World Legacy in the early morning hours of February 20th, off the coast of Singapore, filling the vessel with smoke and forcing the evacuation of 271 passengers. The blaze, which started around 4 AM local time in a lounge area on deck nine, tragically resulted in the death of a 23-year-old crew member from Indonesia, who was found lifeless on deck nine and died from suffocation. Four other individuals were hospitalized. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) extinguished the fire, the cause of which is still under investigation. Passengers reported scenes of panic as smoke spread throughout the ship, with many waiting for hours in life vests before being brought ashore.
