A major fire broke out in Naples on Tuesday morning, February 17th, at the historic Teatro Sannazaro in the Chiaia district. The blaze rapidly engulfed the theater, destroying its iconic dome and the entire building. Firefighters worked for hours to control the flames, successfully extinguishing the fire around 1 PM. The incident resulted in significant damage to the theater, with approximately ten adjacent apartments also affected. Sixty residents from 25 nearby apartments were evacuated as a precautionary measure, and several individuals received medical attention for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the public prosecutor's office, though a short circuit is suspected.
