Figma acquires team behind a vibe-coding app 07.07.2026

Figma has announced the acquisition of the team behind Bud, a Y Combinator-backed AI agent and "vibe-coding" platform formerly known as Orchids. This strategic move aims to bridge the gap between design and development by integrating advanced coding and prototyping capabilities directly into Figma's canvas. Bud, which allows users to rapidly build applications for mobile, web, and Slack, will be shut down by July 18, necessitating project migrations for existing users. While Figma has not detailed specific integration plans, the acquisition aligns with recent efforts to expand beyond static design, including the release of Figma Make and integrations with Codex and Claude Code. This acquisition reinforces Figma's mission to provide comprehensive tools for building functional apps rather than just ideating concepts, positioning the company at the forefront of the emerging AI-driven era of digital product development.
