A significant wildfire erupted in the historic Fontainebleau forest, approximately 70 kilometers south of Paris, on Monday, prompting evacuations of nearby residential neighborhoods and causing major transportation disruptions. The fire, which is unusual for its proximity to the French capital, has led to the closure of a section of the busy A6 highway and disrupted train services to and from the Gare de Lyon station, though services were returning to normal by Monday morning.
