Anthony Gillio, a 22-year-old recently fired package driver, is accused of entering an Amazon facility in Lee County, Florida, on May 1 and slashing the tires of 29 delivery vehicles while stealing 23 key fobs. Police identified him through license plate reader cameras and arrested him after he allegedly disposed of the key fobs, a knife, and gloves in the Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers. Detectives recovered the items from the riverbed, an effort shown in a viral video and praised by Sheriff Carmine Marceno. Gillio faces charges of grand theft, tampering with evidence, and two counts of criminal mischief. Amazon clarified that he worked for a Delivery Service Partner, not directly for the company. Gillio entered a not guilty plea on May 5, and his defense attorney declined to comment.
