Firefighters allay fears of life-threatening floods from TTDI construction site 18.04.2026

Firefighters have assured Taman Tun Dr Ismail residents that there is no immediate threat to life or property following heavy rains that caused mud to flood Jalan Abang Haji Openg, originating from a construction site. The site, intended for the national landscape department’s new office, also experienced damage to its aluminium walls due to strong winds. The Kuala Lumpur fire and rescue department is monitoring the situation and clearing blocked drains, deferring further action to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL). Project contractors and the Segambut parliamentary office have committed to commencing repair works promptly. This project has been contentious, with residents opposing the clearing of forest land in Bukit Kiara due to environmental concerns and prior landslide incidents in the vicinity.
