First group of Malaysian haj pilgrims safely arrive in Madinah 16h ago

The first contingent of 284 Malaysian pilgrims for the 1447H/2026 Hajj season safely arrived in Madinah today, April 17, 2026, landing at Prince Mohammad Abdulaziz International Airport at 8:21 am local time. The pilgrims, who departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Malaysia Airlines flight MH8050, were welcomed by Malaysian officials including Ambassador Datuk Syed Mohamad Bakri Syed Abdul Rahman. Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) stated that comprehensive preparations were made to facilitate the pilgrims' worship, with plans including visits to significant religious sites during their six-day stay. This marks the commencement of the overall Hajj operations, which will see 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims travel in stages via 100 chartered flights.
