Flash flood and landslide warnings issued for 5 northern provinces 05.07.2026

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, during the first 6 hours of July 5, the provinces of Lai Chau, Son La, Dien Bien, Lao Cai, and Quang Ninh recorded heavy rainfall, with Nam Pam reaching as high as 218.4mm. As soil moisture in many areas has reached saturation levels above 85%, there is a very high risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, as well as landslides on slopes. In the next 3-6 hours, rainfall is expected to continue developing complexly, with cumulative rainfall in Dien Bien and Son La potentially exceeding 70mm. Experts have warned of disaster risks at level 1, which could pose threats to lives, destroy residential structures, and cause traffic congestion. Authorities are urged to urgently review vulnerable locations to ensure timely response.
