Floods kill 10 in Kenya as heavy rains trigger widespread damage 07.05.2026

At least 10 people have died in Kenya due to heavy rainfall and subsequent flash floods that have devastated several regions, particularly the eastern part of the country where seven fatalities were reported. Ongoing rescue operations are underway as emergency services attempt to assist stranded residents. The floods have resulted in extensive damage to homes, forced community displacement, and led to the closure of crucial roadways. The collapse of two significant bridges has further hampered transportation and trade in the eastern and coastal areas. This brings the death toll from floods to at least 122 this year, following 112 deaths in March, underscoring the escalating impact of climate-related disasters in Kenya.
