Féminicide d’Inès Mecellem : l’inspection générale de la justice reconnaît une « accumulation de défaillances » 19.02.2026

An inspection by the General Inspectorate of Justice has revealed an "accumulation of failures" by state services that contributed to the feminicide of Inès Mecellem, 25, in Poitiers on September 8, 2025. Despite Mecellem filing multiple complaints and activating a "téléphone grave danger" (TGD) on September 6, 2025, her extreme danger was not adequately assessed or anticipated. The report, commissioned by Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin, highlights significant weaknesses in risk assessment, complaint processing, and judicial coordination, noting that existing tools were not effectively utilized. In response, Darmanin announced a "change of method" to combat violence against women, including the creation of a national TGD hotline and the experimentation of joint civil and criminal hearings.
