A coalition of former IRS and Department of Justice officials has filed an amicus brief asking a federal judge to scrutinize a controversial settlement that granted President Donald Trump immunity from past tax audits. The deal, which resolved Trump's $10 billion lawsuit over the leak of his tax documents, also included a now-scuttled $1.8 billion "Anti-Weaponization Fund" by the DOJ. U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams reopened the case last month after 35 former federal judges alleged the settlement was deceptive and a "fraud on the court."
