Fortified drinks, sold in cans or bottles, are seeing growing success among adolescents and young adults thanks to promises of vitamins, proteins, or energy. On the market, there are nearly 30 references offering ingredients such as caffeine, taurine, or matcha. While some manufacturers, such as Maison Meneau, are betting on natural components like acerola to meet demand, nutritionist Laurent Dufay expresses marked skepticism. He points out that these drinks are primarily composed of water and sugar, making them of little use to sedentary consumers. According to him, these products are only of real interest to high-level athletes, as a balanced diet is generally sufficient to cover the essential nutritional needs of the general population.
