FRANCE 24-RFI award for best African player in Ligue 1: Who are the three finalists? 05.05.2026

FRANCE 24 and RFI have announced the three finalists for the 2026 Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, which honors the best African player in France’s Ligue 1. The nominees are Senegalese teammates Lamine Camara of AS Monaco and Moussa Niakhaté of Olympique Lyon, alongside Malian midfielder Mamadou Sangaré from RC Lens. This year’s selection guarantees a first-time laureate for the award, which is named in memory of the late Cameroonian footballer Marc-Vivien Foé. Candidates must have represented an African national team and played at least 15 league matches during the season. The finalists have all demonstrated exceptional performance, with Camara and Niakhaté coming off an Africa Cup of Nations campaign, while Sangaré aims to become the first Malian player to secure this prestigious annual accolade.
