« Conseil de paix » de Donald Trump : la Commission européenne « n’aurait jamais dû » y assister selon la Franceà 21h35 19.02.2026

France has expressed strong disapproval of the European Commission's participation in Donald Trump's "Peace Board," with the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs stating that the Commission "should never have attended" without a mandate from the Council. Jean-Noël Barrot, the French Minister, emphasized that the Commission must respect European legal and institutional balance. European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Suica, attended the inaugural meeting in Washington on Thursday, with the Commission clarifying her participation was limited to discussions on Gaza and did not signify EU membership in the organization. France, supported by Spain, Belgium, and Ireland, views the Board's broader objective of resolving global armed conflicts as problematic, particularly given the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and continued Israeli settlement activity in the West Bank, which France considers a violation of international law.
