La líder populista de derecha francesa, Marine Le Pen, ha anunciado que participará en las elecciones presidenciales de 2027, a pesar de una reciente sentencia en apelación. Aunque el tribunal confirmó su condena por malversación de fondos de la Unión Europea, le permitió presentarse como candidata, bajo la condición de utilizar un brazalete electrónico. Le Pen afirmó ante la cadena TF1 que llevará su campaña precisamente sin dicho dispositivo y que planea apelar la decisión. Junto a Jordan Bardella, pretende presentarse como un dúo político e iniciar la campaña próximamente. En caso de ganar las elecciones, Le Pen tiene la intención de nombrar a Bardella como jefe de Gobierno. El tribunal suavizó la pena para preservar su derecho a la candidatura, pero ratificó la condena de tres años de prisión y una multa de 100.000 euros.
