Charles Kushner Frankreich will US-Botschafter Kontakte verwehren 24.02.2026

France has denied US Ambassador Charles Kushner direct access to government officials following his failure to appear at the Foreign Ministry in Paris on Monday evening. The summons was reportedly in response to US government statements characterizing a fatal incident involving a right-wing activist in Lyon as evidence of a concerning threat from left-wing extremist violence. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot initiated the measure, citing an "obvious misunderstanding of the fundamental expectations of an ambassador." While Kushner was represented by a staff member due to personal commitments, diplomatic sources indicated he can still attend meetings to resolve "irritations." This marks the second time in six months Kushner has been summoned, previously for raising antisemitism accusations against France.
