Früherer ukrainischer Armeechef: Saluschnyj äußert sich zu Differenzen mit Selenskyj 19.02.2026

Former Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, now Ukraine's ambassador to London, has spoken out about significant rifts with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, revealing that the lowest point in their relationship occurred in mid-September 2022. Zaluzhnyi claims dozens of agents from Ukraine's domestic security service (SBU) searched his office, a move he perceived as a threat and a pretext, as the SBU stated they were investigating organized crime at an address where a strip club, reportedly defunct since before the Russian invasion, was located. The SBU maintains the investigation was unrelated to Zaluzhnyi and that the situation was resolved after discussions with the intelligence chief. Further disagreements stemmed from differing strategies for defending Ukraine, with Zaluzhnyi attributing the failed 2023 counteroffensive to Zelenskyy's administration not providing necessary resources for his NATO-partnered plan, which aimed for a concentrated push into the Zaporizhzhia region. Despite his current refusal to discuss political ambitions until the war's end, Zaluzhnyi remains highly popular, leading Zelenskyy in recent polls.
