To mark eight decades of work by the Institute of Fruit Growing in Čačak, a formal academy was held at the Cultural Center to celebrate this significant jubilee. Founded in 1946, the institution has gained worldwide recognition through the creation of 45 fruit varieties, the most famous of which are 'Čačanska rodna', 'Čačanska lepotica', and 'Čačanska rana'. The Director of the Institute, Dr. Darko Jevremović, highlighted that these varieties have become global brands planted across the world, including Australia and New Zealand. The festivities were attended by representatives from the ministries of science and economy, while the focus for the future remains on developing climate-resilient varieties, preserving genetic resources, and implementing digital technologies. The Institute continues its mission of providing scientific support to producers, maintaining its status as one of the most prestigious institutions in the field of fruit growing through innovation and tradition.
