From solar power to AI: How Dubai is future-proofing vital services 25.06.2026

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is implementing a multi-pronged strategy to ensure reliable electricity and water services amid rapid expansion. During a Dubai Press Club dialogue, DEWA CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer highlighted the emirate's achievements, including first-place global rankings in 13 key performance indicators. Customers experience an average of only 49 minutes of lost power annually, while transmission and distribution losses stand at just 2% for electricity and 4.4% for water. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park, is central to clean energy efforts, with capacity expected to exceed 8,000 megawatts by 2030. The park has set four Guinness World Records, including the tallest concentrated solar power tower at 263 metres and 15 hours of thermal energy storage.
