From the UAE to Qatar, Gulf countries condemn 'Iranian aggression' 02.03.2026

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers convened via videoconference on Sunday evening, expressing unified condemnation of what they termed "Iranian aggression" following retaliatory strikes by Iran against GCC nations since Saturday, February 28. The ministers declared their intention to take "all necessary measures to defend [their] security and stability and protect [their] territories, citizens and residents, including the option of responding to the aggression." This development signifies the long-feared scenario of Gulf countries being drawn into the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States, with Iran appearing to regionalize the war after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The GCC states now face a critical decision regarding their engagement with Iran and their alignment with the US and Israel.
