A data breach affecting 1.2 million French bank accounts has been reported, with a hacker gaining access by compromising a civil servant's credentials. The stolen information includes account holder identities, addresses, RIBs, IBANs, and in some instances, fiscal identification numbers. The French Ministry of Economy confirmed that affected individuals will be notified individually in the coming days. The Federation Bancaire Française added that dates and places of birth were also compromised. This incident raises concerns about potential increases in online fraud as this sensitive data becomes available to malicious actors.
