Gagik Tsarukyan placed in pre-trial detention 07.07.2026

Businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, the prominent leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, has been placed in pre-trial detention for a period of two months. This legal development was officially confirmed by Armenia’s Investigative Committee following his detention on July 6. Tsarukyan faces serious criminal charges, specifically involving fraud and money laundering. The legal proceedings were preceded by extensive law enforcement operations, which included simultaneous searches conducted at more than 70 different locations. These coordinated raids were carried out through a collaborative effort involving the National Security Service, the State Revenue Committee, and the Police under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. After being initially detained and taken to the Investigative Committee, Tsarukyan was subsequently transferred to court to address the ongoing criminal proceedings regarding these significant allegations of financial misconduct and illegal activities.
