Gardo enters PAR, intensifies into severe tropical storm; Francisco exits 25.06.2026

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the tropical cyclone with the international name Higos, locally named Gardo, entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 25. By 8 p.m., Gardo had intensified from a tropical storm into a severe tropical storm, packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 115 km/h. As of 10 p.m., Gardo was located 1,275 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon, moving north northwest at 30 km/h. PAGASA stated that Gardo will remain far from any landmass and is expected to leave PAR by Friday morning or afternoon, June 26. No rainfall or wind warnings have been issued, and the storm will not affect the country.
