Gauteng High Court denies Bushiri co-accused Mudolo's plea to amend bail conditions for family visit 03.06.2026

The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria has denied businessman Willah Joseph Mudolo, a co-accused in the fraud case involving Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, permission to amend his bail conditions to visit his gravely ill mother in Zambia. Judge Piet van Niekerk dismissed Mudolo's application, citing the stringent bail conditions initially imposed by the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court and the failure to join the Director of Public Prosecutions in the proceedings. Mudolo had sought to travel between April 30 and May 3, offering assurances of contact details and prompt passport return, and highlighting his history of compliance with bail. This ruling overturns a previous relaxation granted by a regional magistrate in March 2022, which had been appealed and subsequently overturned by the Gauteng High Court in September 2022. Mudolo and five others, facing charges including racketeering, money laundering, and fraud related to an alleged R102 million scheme, were scheduled to appear in court.
