Gaza strikes draw condemnation as transition efforts face challenges 05.08.2026

Mediator countries Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye issued a joint statement on Monday strongly condemning recent Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip, which they said constitute a "flagrant violation" of international law and threaten ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict. The mediators specifically condemned the targeting of healthcare facilities and medical infrastructure, as well as resulting civilian casualties, and called on Israel to fulfill its obligations under international law and the ceasefire agreement. They stressed that civilians, medical facilities, and humanitarian personnel must be protected, and that humanitarian aid and medical supplies should be delivered without obstruction. The three countries urged the international community to "exert the necessary pressure on Israel" to implement the ceasefire agreement.
