Gestolen fietsen en pakketjes: 54 huurders dreigen met huurstaking vanwege onveiligheid 12.02.2026

Fifty-four tenants at the new Spot apartment complex in Zuidoost, Amsterdam, are threatening a rent strike due to escalating security concerns, including frequent thefts of bicycles and packages. Residents of the complex, which comprises 1090 apartments across towers like Aurelia and Scarlet and has been occupied since November, have reported multiple instances of stolen bicycles from the supposedly secure storage, forced entry into the bike shed, and pilfered packages and bike batteries. A letter sent to landlord VB&T on Sunday demands concrete solutions and improved communication within five days, or tenants will cease rent payments. The police have recorded seven bicycle theft reports in the past year, though actual incidents may be higher. The landlord states measures have been taken, including instructing delivery personnel to hand packages directly to residents and urging the VvE to install cameras, while also advising residents to be vigilant about closing doors.
