Gewaltige Lawine donnert in Italien-Skigebiet vom Berg: Schneewolke überrascht Skifahrer – Panik bricht aus 19.02.2026

On Tuesday afternoon, February 18th, a massive avalanche descended from Mont Blanc in Italy's Aosta Valley, specifically in Val Veny above Courmayeur. Spectacular video footage captured the event, showing a large snow cloud engulfing dozens of skiers, including children, who were waiting in line for a lift on the Zerotta blue piste. Many skiers were caught by surprise as the approaching snow mass was obscured by a nearby forest. While initial reports indicated no one was buried, those present were enveloped by the snow cloud's spray. Search dog teams were deployed as a precaution. This incident occurs amidst heightened avalanche warnings across the Alps due to critical weather conditions, with recent fatal avalanches reported nearby in both the French and Italian Alps.
