Ghana settles US$700 million Eurobond debt ahead of schedule 06.07.2026

The Government of Ghana has successfully repaid a US$700 million Eurobond debt before its scheduled maturity date. This payment, finalized on Thursday, July 2, 2026, included US$525.2 million in principal and US$174.8 million in interest, bringing the total paid to Eurobond holders since January 2025 to US$2.1 billion under the country's Eurobond Debt Exchange Programme. The Ministry of Finance stated that the repayment was managed through existing financing without straining foreign exchange reserves. This early settlement is seen as a significant step towards bolstering investor confidence, reducing Ghana's total Eurobond debt, and demonstrating the government's dedication to responsible debt management and macroeconomic stability. The Ministry also extended gratitude to the Ghanaian public for their continued support during these economic stabilization efforts.
