Ghana's DVLA is set to introduce a UK-style penalty points system for drivers, as announced by CEO Julius Neequaye Kotey in an interview with Pulse Ghana. Under the proposed system, every licensed driver will initially be allocated 20 penalty points each year, though discussions are ongoing about potentially increasing this to 40 points. Points will be deducted for traffic offences such as reckless driving, speeding, and running red lights. Drivers who exhaust all their points will be required to return to driving school for further training, though they will not need to start the licensing process from scratch.
