Girl, 6, chosen by artist as national event winner 05.04.2026

Six-year-old Margot from Haslemere, Surrey, has been crowned the national winner of Clarendon Fine Art's "Subtle Art of Family" competition, an event designed to encourage family visits to local galleries. Margot's artwork, which impressed artist Doug Hyde and gallery manager Linnet Bird with its color, vibrancy, and depiction of dogs, stood out among over 1,000 entries. The competition aimed to challenge the perception that art galleries are not family-friendly spaces. As the winner, Margot and her family will receive an art consultation and a piece of artwork valued up to £2,500, with Margot expressing a desire for a painting reminiscent of walks with her grandmother in Cornwall.
