Following the People's Power Party's (PPP) poor performance in the 2025 General Election, former secretary-general Goh Meng Seng has issued a statement taking full responsibility for the party's losses. Goh attributed the failure to his adherence to "old-fashioned values" and a failure to adapt to modern voter preferences, which he claims prioritize emotional appeals over policy and accountability. The PPP faced significant setbacks, securing only 11 percent of the vote in Ang Mo Kio and a mere 0.43 percent in Tampines. Consequently, Goh and former chairman Derrick Sim have stepped down from their leadership roles as part of a Central Executive Committee renewal plan. William Lim Lian Chin has been elected as the new secretary-general. Despite stepping down, Goh intends to continue his political activism through social media-based political education to support Singapore's political development.
