Hong Kong property tycoon Gordon Wu predicts China will surpass the US economy within the next decade, attributing this shift to China's technological advancements and the US's heavy defense spending and national debt, which he labels as its "Achilles' heel." Wu, founder and chairman of Hopewell Holdings, believes countries that heavily invest in military expenditure tend towards bankruptcy. Despite US-China geopolitical tensions, the 90-year-old urged Hong Kong to strengthen ties with the US, utilizing its position as a leading trading hub to attract American private wealth. Wu, known for his infrastructure projects in mainland China, cited historical economic shifts driven by technological progress and manufacturing relocation as precedents for China's anticipated rise.
