Govt probe finds Ad-din Hospital building ‘unfit’, ‘gross negligence’ in 6 newborn deaths 04.06.2026

Two Bangladeshi film projects, "Alowkik Rajhas" and "Before the Earth Collapses," have been selected for the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) in Vietnam, a significant platform for emerging filmmakers. "Alowkik Rajhas," a debut feature by Rajib Rafi inspired by a Bangladeshi folktale, is in early development with screenplay work and funding acquisition underway. Rafi highlighted the challenge of finding producers for independent films in Bangladesh and expressed that the DANAFF invitation is a major achievement, especially as only 10 Asian art-house projects were chosen. The film, also known as "Golden Swan," will be represented by producer Aadnan Imtiaz Ahmed in Vietnam starting June 27. "Before the Earth Collapses," a multinational co-production involving Japan, Nepal, and Bangladesh, will be directed by Noriko Yuasa, with Bangladeshi producer Tanveer Hossain involved. The DANAFF Talents and Project Market runs from June 28 to July 4, offering pitching sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities.
