The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has been directed by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to summon Meta, the parent company of Instagram, over advertisements on the platform that allegedly promoted child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in India. According to a MeitY official, the ministry will seek an explanation from Meta regarding the issue and the specific measures the company has implemented to address it. This action follows concerns about the presence of such harmful content on the social media platform, which has a large user base in India.
