Govt urges pilgrims to follow hajj regulations to avoid heavy penalties 07.05.2026

Bangladesh's Ministry of Religious Affairs is advising its citizens to strictly adhere to Saudi Arabia's Hajj regulations this year, emphasizing the severe penalties for performing the pilgrimage without an official permit. Saudi Arabia has implemented stricter rules and harsher punishments to manage overcrowding and enhance pilgrim safety. Individuals found without a valid permit risk fines up to SAR 20,000, while those who facilitate unauthorized pilgrims, including transportation and accommodation providers, could face fines as high as SAR 100,000 and potential confiscation of vehicles. These regulations, enforced from Dhu Al Qi’dah to Dhu Al Hijjah, apply to both foreign and resident pilgrims, with violators potentially facing deportation and re-entry bans for up to a decade.
