Griepepidemie duurt voort: iets meer zieken dan vorige week 18.02.2026

A flu epidemic continues in the Netherlands, with 68 out of every 100,000 people visiting a doctor for flu symptoms last week. This marks the second consecutive week with over 46 cases per 100,000, the threshold for an epidemic. The number of reported cases has slightly increased from the previous week's adjusted figure of 62 per 100,000. This year's epidemic began later than last year, when the peak occurred in early February with 100 cases per 100,000. The RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) monitors these figures, and the current situation follows reports of delayed surgeries and concerns about spread during Carnival.
