Grönland meldet wärmsten Januar seit Messbeginn: Bis zu 14 Grad wärmer als normal 17.02.2026

Greenland experienced its warmest January on record, with temperatures across the west coast, including the capital Nuuk, significantly exceeding seasonal norms. The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) reported that Greenland and the Arctic are warming three to four times faster than the global average, attributing the January anomaly to a combination of long-term climate change and unusual atmospheric conditions, including a brief Föhn wind event that pushed Nuuk's temperature to 11.3 degrees Celsius. Average monthly temperatures in Nuuk were 7 degrees above the 30-year average, surpassing the previous 1917 record by 1.4 degrees. Northern areas saw even greater deviations, with some regions 12 to 14 degrees Celsius warmer than usual.
