Großbritannien:Ausschluss aus Thronfolge? 23.02.2026

Australia's government, led by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, has indicated support for legislation that could remove Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of succession to the British throne. This stance was communicated in a letter to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as reported by Sky News and PA. The move comes amid ongoing investigations in the UK concerning Prince Andrew's alleged involvement with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Australia, as one of the 15 Commonwealth realms whose succession laws are tied to the British monarchy, would need to approve any such legislative change. Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III, is currently eighth in line to the throne, behind Charles's son Prince William and William's son Prince George.
