New negotiations aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine commenced on Tuesday in Geneva, involving Russian, Ukrainian, and American delegations. Under pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, the discussions are centered on an American peace plan that proposes territorial concessions from Kyiv in exchange for security guarantees. This initiative follows previous unsuccessful talks held in the United Arab Emirates. A key point of contention is the Donbass region, where Moscow is demanding Ukrainian forces withdraw from areas they still control in Donetsk Oblast. Ukraine, however, has thus far refused to cede territory, despite Russia occupying 19.5% of its land. The Russian delegation is led by Vladimir Medinski, and the Ukrainian delegation by Roustem Oumerov.
