Gunmen launched a deadly late-night attack on Tuesday in the Nding Susut community, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, killing five people and injuring three. The assailants reportedly stormed the area around 8 p.m., opening fire on residents gathered outside their homes, including members of one family. Among the deceased were four females and a nine-year-old boy, while three other females sustained injuries and are hospitalized. Community members expressed fear and frustration over the recurring violence, noting the proximity of the attack to a military checkpoint. Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident, with the Commissioner of Police condemning the killings and deploying additional security forces to the area. This attack follows a similar incident just one week prior, intensifying concerns about the deteriorating security in Plateau.
