H-1B scam with ghost offices? IT firms among 30 entities to be probed 01.05.2026

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a sweeping investigation into nearly 30 North Texas entities, including IT and consulting firms, for alleged misuse of the H-1B visa programme through fraudulent practices like "ghost offices." The probe, which escalated from an earlier investigation, involves Civil Investigative Demands requiring detailed records. Paxton cited viral social media claims and thanked conservative commentator Sara Gonzales for exposing alleged fraud. The announcement follows pressure from conservative activists alleging an "Indian takeover" of cities like Frisco. Indian nationals account for nearly two-thirds of approved H-1B visas. One cited example involved a company listing a single-family home as an office. Paxton vowed to hold violators accountable, stating abuse "strips jobs and opportunities away from Texans."
