Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (Haeco), a sister company of Cathay Pacific Airways, has partnered with China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC), the country's largest independent aircraft lessor, to build a maintenance hub in Hong Kong. The Transport and Logistics Bureau announced the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Thursday, revealing that the agreement was signed earlier in the week. The two Hong Kong-headquartered companies will establish an aircraft engine maintenance centre focusing initially on quick-turn services, hospital repairs, and engine asset management. Hospital repairs involve relatively extensive maintenance on aircraft engines but not full overhauls.
