Hannah Yeoh: More CCTV at KLCC to crack down on ‘photo touts’ 28.03.2026

In response to an incident where 18 unlicensed photographers allegedly attacked a man at KLCC, Minister Hannah Yeoh announced plans to increase CCTV surveillance around the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Discussions will be held with KLCC Property Holdings Berhad and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to install more cameras to identify individuals conducting unauthorized business activities. Yeoh also called for increased police and DBKL enforcement patrols to prevent tourists and locals from being harassed, emphasizing that such incidents tarnish Malaysia's image. The detained photographers, aged 17 to 45, are being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code. Separately, Yeoh addressed an issue in Wangsa Maju where Federal Territory Residents' Representative Council (MPP) members were allegedly soliciting money from a massage center, clarifying that MPP members are not enforcers and should only relay complaints to DBKL.
