At approximately 3:00 AM on July 5, a man in his 50s (A) attacked and killed a woman in her 60s (B) with a weapon on a street in Sangdaewon-dong, Jungwon-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do. The two had been in a relationship for approximately four years, and B had previously reported A's harassment last month and requested protection. In response, the police had issued a warning regarding dating violence to A, advised B to report the stalking, subsequently issued a restraining order, and provided B with an emergency smart watch. At the time of the incident, B completed a report via the smart watch, and although police arrived at the scene within three minutes, B ultimately passed away at the hospital. A, who attempted self-harm immediately after the crime, is currently undergoing surgery at a hospital, and police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the crime once A recovers.
