France’s record-breaking heatwave reached its peak on June 25, with the national average temperature climbing to 30°C, surpassing the previous record of 29.8°C set the day before and the prior highs of 29.4°C in 2003 and 2019. Dozens of local all-time records were shattered, including 43.7°C in Fontenay (Vendée), 42.2°C in Nantes, and 42°C in Vannes. Overnight lows remained exceptionally high, with 27°C in Paris and 27.5°C in Bordeaux. As of June 25, Météo France placed 72 departments on red alert for heatwave conditions, while 10 departments faced orange storm warnings.
