High schooler, student, and 70-year-old train together for the Ljubljana Marathon 05.07.2026

A group of diverse runners, including a high school student, a university student, and a 70-year-old, is preparing for the Ljubljana Marathon under the guidance of coach Boris. Anja, who has already achieved a sub-four-hour marathon time, emphasizes the importance of adaptable training and the sense of community after a workout. The director of the Ljubljana Marathon, Barbara Železnik, visited the runners and highlighted the strategy of reintegrating running groups into the marathon framework, which has led to an increase in the number of runners to over 100. Železnik presented the ongoing program of free runs, including the 'Gremo v Ljubljano' (Let's go to Ljubljana) and Garmin runs. Data shows an extraordinary surge in interest in the marathon, with the number of registrations already exceeding 11,000 runners, representing a 41 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
